WAGs 2.0! Inside new generation of footballers' wives – pop stars to reality icons and ITV favourite
Times have changed since Victoria Beckham and Coleen Rooney supported their men from the sidelines, as today's WAGS are shunning the label and carving their own paths

Gone are the days of stiletto heels on the pitch and pouts from the sidelines - there's a new generation of WAGS supporting their men and they're bringing a completely different ball game.
It was all about glamour during the WAG era of the noughties, with Victoria Beckham, Coleen Rooney and Abbey Clancy in their lengthy hair extensions, tight vests and tiny denim shorts. These wives and girlfriends of football players, who became an iconic group, brought their A-game and were no doubt there to impress.
But fast forward almost 20 years and we've seen a completely different take on the meaning of WAGs, with the new era kicking the heels out altogether.
The likes of Perrie Edwards, Danni Dyer and Taylor Ward have mastered a much more relaxed approach when it comes to time on the sidelines as they boast wide-leg trousers, blazers and trainers – even opting for a football shirt from time to time.
Bringing a new ultra-cool yet casual vibe, the WAGs today have certainly changed the narrative - let's take a closer look...
During the 2000s, Victoria Beckham was the Queen of the Wags, who could be spotted sitting on the sidelines alongside Cheryl Cole, when she was married to Ashley Cole, and Coleen Rooney.
She dressed up for every match to support her husband David Beckham - if that was in some tiny denim shorts or her iconic red leather jacket - each look, of course, completed with a pair of killer heels or questionable knee-high boots.

Today, Perrie can be seen cheering her partner on from the sidelines in tailored trousers and a causal but chic shirt – no oversized shades in sight!

Taylor Ward and her Manchester City footballer husband Riyad Mahrez can often be spotted sharing on-pitch moments with their baby daughter Mila. Taylor is another WAG to have been in the spotlight as she's the daughter of Real Housewives of Cheshire star Dawn Ward.
